ਛੰਦ ॥

Stanza

ਨਮੋ ਉਗ੍ਰਦੰਤੀ ਅਨੰਤੀ ਸੈਵਯਾ ॥

Salutation to the All-Supreme and pure Mother - destroyer of deadly sins with Her mighty teeth.

ਨਮੋ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗੇਸਵਰੀ ਜੋਗ ਮੈਯਾ ॥

Salutation to the Supreme Mother who bestows strength to the Ascetics (Jogis) to meditate.

ਨਮੋ ਕੇਹਰੀ ਬਾਹਨੀ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਹੰਤੀ ॥

Salutation to the rider of the Lion and killer of the demons.

ਨਮੋ ਸਾਰਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਪੜ੍ਹੰਤੀ ॥

Salutation to Mother Saraswati who enlightens Her disciples.

ਨਮੋ ਰਿੱਧ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਧਿ ਦਾ ਬੁੱਿਧ ਦੈਨੀ ॥

Salutation to the one that gives magical powers and wisdom to Her devotees.

ਨਮੋ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ਕਉ ਕਾਲ ਛੈਨੀ ॥

Salutation to the one that has triumphed over death.

ਨਮੋ ਕਾਲ ਅਜਾਲ ਹੈ ਹੇਰ ਤੇਰੋ ॥

Salutation to the one that cannot be caught in the web of mortality .

ਨਮੋ ਤੀਨ ਹੂ ਲੋਕ ਕੀਨੋ ਅਹੇਰੋ ॥

Salutation to the one whose praises are sung in the three worlds i.e.this world, the celestial world and the nether world.

ਨਮੋ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਵਾਲਾ ਤੁਮੈ ਬੇਦ ਗਾਵੈਂ ॥

Salutation to one with the glowing flame that the Vedas and the learned sing praise of.

ਸੁਰਾਸੁਰ ਰਿਖੀਸਵਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੇਦ ਪਾਵੈਂ ॥

Even the demi-gods, demons, sages cannot comprehend this one.

ਤੂੰਹੀ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗਤਣ ਤੁਹੀ ਖੜਗ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

You are the one who teaches the techniques of yoga to the yogis.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜੈ ਕਰੰਤੀ ਅਸੁਰ ਗਹਿ ਪਛਾਰੇ ॥

You clash with the demons and vanquish them.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜੋਗਣੀ ਖੱਪਰ ਭਰਣੀ ਅਦੋਖੰ ॥

You are the one who drinks from the bowl, the blood of the demons and is a saviour of your devotees.

ਰਕਤ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਕੋ ਪਕੜ ਸੋਖੰ ॥

You are the one who dried up the blood of Rakat Beej (a demon).

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਲ ਥਲੇ ਪਰਬਤੇ ਗਿਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ॥

You reside in oceans, earth and mountains.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਭ ਘਟਨ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਾਲਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ॥

You are self-radiant in all matter.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦੁਸਟ ਦਾਹਿਨ ਤੁਹੀ ਸਰਬ ਪਾਲੀ ॥

You are the one who destroys the evil and takes motherly care of all.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਪੁਹਿਪਾ ਤੁਹੀ ਆਪ ਮਾਲੀ ॥

You are the plant and you are the flower and you are gardner who takes care of it.

ਤੁਹੀ ਵਿਸਵ ਭਰਣੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਜਗ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ॥

You are nourisher of the universe and your radiance is apparent all over.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਲਖ ਬਰਣੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਭੁ ਅਕਾਸੀ ॥

You are the invisible power, you are infinite and you are the earth and the firmament.

ਨਮੋ ਜਾਲਪਾ ਦੇਵਿ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

Salutation to the Godly Durga Bhavani, the one who bestows the power of speech to everyone.

ਤਿਹੂ ਲੋਕ ਨਵਖੰਡ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੀ ॥

You are prominent in the three worlds and nine cosmic regions.

ਅਟਲ ਛੱਤ੍ਰ ਧਰਣੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵੰ ॥

Your kingdom is Eternal and you are the beginning of Eternity.

ਸਕਲ ਮੁਨਜਨਾ ਤੋਹਿ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਸਰੇਵੰ ॥

All the hermits and men pray to you day and night.

ਤੁਹੀ ਕਾਲ ਅਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਛਾਜੈ ॥

You are the destroyer of all and you are the Divine light of the Lord prevailing in the universe.

ਸਦਾ ਜੈ ਸਦਾ ਜੈ ਸਦਾ ਜੈ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥

Victory is yours at this time and will forever remain.

ਯਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

I, your slave, beg for your compassion, which is limitless like an ocean.

ਸੰਵਯ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਭਗਤ ਸਰਬੱਤ੍ਰ ਦੀਜੈ ॥

Please bestow in all, the ability of devotion to the Almighty.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਾਗਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਵਲਾ ਸਰੂਪੰ ॥

You are the Divine light generating illumination

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਗ ਸਕਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਮੰਤੀ ਅਨੂਪੰ ॥

You are assimilated in this universe and none can eulogize you.

ਮਹਾਂ ਮੂੜ ਹਊਂ ਦਾਸਨ ਤਿਹਾਰਾ ॥

I am the slave of your slaves and very inane.

ਪਕੜ ਬਾਂਹ ਭਉਜਲ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੇਗ ਪਾਰਾ ॥

Hold my arm and make me presently cross this ocean of life and death.

ਫਤਹਿ ਡੰਕ ਬਾਜੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਯੌ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥

The drum of victory should resound, bestow me that favour.

ਯਹੀ ਬਾਰਤਾ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥

Please take heed of my daily plea.

ਕਰਹੁ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਭੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਘਾਊਂ ॥

Sanction me to destroy all the evil (persons) -

ਤੁਰਕ ਹਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸਕਲ ਝਗਰਾ ਮਿਟਾਊਂ ॥

(and) end this every day conflict between the Hindus and Muslims.

ਅਗਮ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੇ ਉਠਹਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੋਧਾ ॥

Ample brave Singh warriors will rise.

ਪਕੜ ਤੁਰਕ ਗਨ ਕਉ ਕਰੈ ਵੈ ਨਿਰੋਧਾ ॥

They will face the Turks and and make them defenceless.

ਸਕਲ ਜਗਤ ਮੋ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਗਾਜੈ ॥

Throughout the world the Khalsa Panth will be prominent

ਜਗੈ ਧਰਮ ਹਿੰਦੁਕ ਤੁਰਕਨ ਦੁੰਦ ਭਾਜੈ ॥

The Righteous Path will arise in the Indian subcontinent, and the invading Muslim foreigners will run away.

ਜਪਉਂ ਜਾਪ ਏਕੈ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਅਕਾਲੰ ॥

Every one will worship only the one Almighty.

ਹੋਵੈ ਤਬ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਛਿਨਕ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਹਾਲੰ ॥

The entire world will immediately be blissful.

ਸੁਣਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਹਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ॥

My Bhavani Ma, please listen to my plea.

ਕਰਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਪਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਅਪਰੰ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥

Bestow great blessings on your slave.

Couplet

ਦਵਾਰ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਠਾਢ ਹਉਂ ਇਕ ਬਰ ਦੀਜੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥

I stand in your doorway and desire a boon.

ਪੰਥ ਚਲੈ ਤਬ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਖਪਾਵਹੁ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੧॥

The Panth will only prevail if you destroy the evil forces.

Bhagwati Stanza 2

ਨਮੋ ਕਾਲਕਾ ਕਾਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨੀ ॥

Salutation to the Godly Eternal Power Bhawani, who adornes a sharp sword.

ਨਮੋ ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਨਾਸਨਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

Salutation to the destroyer of Sumbh & Nishumbh (2 demons)

ਨਮੋ ਚੰਡ ਅਰ ਮੂੰਡ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕਾਰੀ ॥

Salutation to the killer of Chandd and Mundd (2 demons).

ਨਮੋ ਰਕਤ ਬੀਜਾਨ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਾਰੀ ॥

Salutations to the destroyer of evil demons like Rakat Beej.

ਨਮੋ ਵੇਦ ਵਿੱਦਿਯਾ ਨਮੋ ਜੱਗਯ ਰੂਪਾ ॥

Salutation to the giver of Veda knowledge and salutation to the fiery flame of the holy fire (Yug Havan)

ਨਮੋ ਅੰਜਨੀ ਪੂਰਨੀ ਭੂਪ ਭੂਪਾ ॥

Salutation to the one with enthralling eyes who is the King of Kings.

ਨਮੋ ਜੈ ਅਨੰਤੀ ਭੱਦ੍ਰਕਾਲੀ ਅਬਾਹੰ ॥

Salutation to the boundless possessor of power with infinte hands - the intensity of which can never be visualized.

ਨਮੋ ਭਗਵਤੀ ਤੇਜਵੰਤੀ ਅਢਾਹੰ ॥

Salutation to Bhagwati, possessor of great magnificence and subjugated by none.

ਨਮੋ ਸਕਤਿ ਰੂਪਣ ਅਗੰਮਣ ਅਡੋਲਾ ॥

Salutation to the unshakeable and most supreme possessor of might.

ਨਮੋ ਖੜਗ ਧਾਰਨ ਅਛੇਦਣ ਅਤੋਲਾ ॥

Salutation to the invincible wielder of the sword.

ਨਮੋ ਗਰਬ ਗੰਜਨ ਸਿਰੀ ਜੋਗ ਮਾਯਾ ॥

Salutation to Sri Yog Mata the obliterator of ego in all.

ਸਭੈ ਥਕ ਰਹੇ ਮਰਮ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਯਾ ॥

All tried but could not envisage your secret prowess.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਲ ਅਗਨਿ ਪਵਨ ਤੂੰ ਹੂਰ ਨੂਰਾ ॥

You are water, fire and air and also the one with the extraordinary radiant eyes

ਤੁਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਉਡਗਨ ਤੁਹੀ ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰਾ ॥

You are the light of stars, moon and the sun.

ਤੁਹੀ ਖੇਚਰਾ ਭੂਚਰਾ ਜੋਧ ਬੀਰੇ ॥

You are the brave warrior who travels on the earth and the constellation.

ਤੁਹੀ ਰੱਛਨੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਰੂਪਨ ਗਹੀਰੇ ॥

You are the beautiful eternal power who is the saviour of the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਜਨਨੀ ਅਨੰਤੀ ਅਕਾਲੰ ॥

You are the conceiving mother for all living beings and are beyond the cycle of birth and death.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅੰਨ ਦੈਨੀ ਸਭਨ ਕੋ ਸਮਾਲੰ ॥

You nourish every body by providing food for them.

ਤੁਹੀ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਭੂਮੰ ਸਰੂਪੀ ॥

You are the light in nine regions of the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਿਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਅਨੂਪੀ ॥

You are Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma and Indra and are beyond any acclamation.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੋਤਲਾ ਬਾਕ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

Your speech is cool and warm.

ਨਮੋ ਚੰਡਕਾ ਮੰਗਲਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

Salutation to Chandika, Durga who appeases all - being the Mother Bhavani.

ਨਹੀਂ ਤੁਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਇ ਰੱਛਕ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥

There is no one else who can assist me.

ਤੁਹੀ ਆਦਿ ਕੁਆਰ ਦੇਵੀ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

You are the chaste, the beginning and the infinite.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਮਾਤਾ ਕਹਾਯੰ ॥

You were called Sri Krishna's mother Devki.

ਤੁਹੀ ਨੈਣਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਅਲਖ ਜਗ ਸਹਾਯੰ ॥

You are the beautiful eyed Naina Devi, the invisible power and protector of the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਥੰਭ ਸਿਉਂ ਨਿਕਸ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਹੋਈ ॥

You transformed into Narsingh and manifested from the pillar.

ਉਦਰ ਹਰਨਾਖਸ ਕਾ ਨਖਹੁ ਕਰ ਪਰੋਈ ॥

With your nails you tore open the belly of Harnaksh.

ਤੁਹੀ ਕੱਛ ਹੁਇ ਦੈਤ ਮਧੁਕੀਟ ਜਾਰੇ ॥

You manifested as a turtle and are the creator of Madh and Keetab demons.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਬੈਰਾਹ ਹਿਰਨਾਛਯ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

You manifested as a boar and killed Harankashyap.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹੁਇ ਬਾਵਨ ਮਹਾਂ ਛਲ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥

You manifested as Bawan the dwarf and performed a great act of deception.

ਪਕੜ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਲ ਕੋ ਪਤਾਲੈ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥

And banished Raja Bal to the nether world.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਪਰਸਰਾਮ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ॥

You manifested as Parasram in this world.

ਸਕਲ ਛਤ੍ਰੀਅਨ ਕਉ ਕਰੈ ਛੈ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥

And destroyed innumerable Kshattries (a warrior clan).

ਤੁਹੀ ਫਿਰ ਭਈ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

You again were born as Lord Rama.

ਪਕੜ ਲੰਕ ਸਉ ਦੈਤ ਰਾਵਣ ਪਛਾਰਾ ॥

And destroyed Ravana the demon King of Lanka.

ਤੁਹੀਂ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦਾਇਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਭ ਕਰੰਤੀ ॥

You bestow salvation and are ceaselessly favourable.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੂਰ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਦੁਸਟਣ ਦਹੰਤੀ ॥

You are brave with immense strength with which you annihilate the demons.

ਤੁਹੀ ਰਾਧਕਾ ਰੁਕਮਣੀ ਤੂੰ ਕੁਸ਼ਿੱਲਆ ॥

You are Sri Krishna's playmate Radhika and His queen Rukmani and Lord Rama's mother Kaushalya.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅੰਜਨੀ ਰੇਨਕਾ ਤੂੰ ਅਹੱਲਿਆ ॥

You are Hanuman's mother Anjani, Parasram's mother Renuka and you are Gautam's (sage) wife Ahalya.

ਤੁਹੀ ਭਰਣ ਪੋਖਣ ਸਭਨ ਪਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੀ ॥

You are the compassionate mother who nourishes and takes care of all.

ਕਰਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਕਟਹੁ ਭਰਮ ਜਾਲੀ ॥

(Please) cut this net of illusion and grant me salvation.

ਨਮੋ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੰਤੀ ਅਨੰਦਤ ਸਰੂਪਾ ॥

Salutation to the heavenly reliever of suffering and the angel of tranquillity.

ਅਪਨ ਦਾਸ ਪਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਜੈ ਅਨੂਪਾ ॥

Have compassion on your slave O Unsurpassed Power.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

Couplet

ਦਾਸ ਜਾਨ ਕਰ ਆਪਨਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥

I am your slave, shower your grace on me.

ਇਹੈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੨॥

This is my invocation please listen to me O Mother Bhawani.

Bhagwati Stanza 3

ਤੂਹੀ ਕਲਪ ਬ੍ਰਿਛਣ ਤੁਹੀ ਕਾਮਧੇਨਾ ॥

You fulfil all wishes similar to the 'Kalp' tree and the 'Kaamdhena' Cow.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਸਟ ਸਿੱਧਣ ਤੁਹੀ ਨੂਰ ਨੈਨਾ ॥

You, with brilliant eyes, are the possessor of the eight miraculous powers.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੁਰਗ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਧਰਣੀ ॥

You reside in Heaven, Nether world and Paradise.

ਤੁਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਣ ਉਦਰ ਜਗਤ ਭਰਣੀ ॥

You exterminate evil and nurture the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੀ ਬੇਦ ਪਾਠਣ ਸਵਿਤ੍ਰੀ ॥

You are Saraswati, the proficient in the Vedas.

ਤੁਹੀ ਧਰਮਣੀ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੀ ॥

You are the pure creator that preserves the faith (dharma).

ਤੁਹੀ ਗੌਰਜਾ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਜੋਗ ਧਰਣੰ ॥

You dwell in the mountain and are the yogic Parvati (wife of Lord Shiva).

ਤੁਹੀ ਲੱਛਮੀ ਅਲਖ ਰੂਪੀ ਅਵਰਣੰ ॥

You are Lakshmi (wife of Lord Vishnu) with immense beauty.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਕਉ ਉਪਾਵੈ ਛਕਾਵੈ ॥

You give birth to the universe and shroud it within your self.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬਹੁੜ ਆਪੇ ਛਿਨਿਕ ਮਉ ਖਪਾਵੈ ॥

You, then in an instant terminate all.

ਤੁਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਰਾਣੀ ॥

You are God's greatest prayer power.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਰ ਭਈ ਜੋਗ ਧਯਾਣੀ ॥

You have yourself become a symbol of worship because of your contemplation on the Lord Almighty.

ਅਗਮ ਖੇਲ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥

Your extensive marvels are not describeable.

ਤੁਹੀ ਭੇਦ ਅਪਨਾ ਅਪਨੁ ਆਪ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

You are the only one who fathoms the mystery.

ਸਗਲ ਢੂੰਡ ਥਾਕੇ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਕਿਛ ਨ ਭੇਦਾ ॥

All have tried but none could unravel your mystery.

ਤੁਹੀ ਈਸਰੀ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਅਛੇਦਾ ॥

You are the Godly Power who demolishes suffering.

ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਹਰ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਚਰਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਾਵਉਂ ॥

Bless me with the dust of your feet

ਤੁਮਨ ਦੁਆਰ ਪਰ ਸੀਸ ਅਪਨਾ ਘਸਾਵਉਂ ॥

I bow my head and pay homage to you on your doorway.

ਯਹੀ ਦਾਨ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਜੈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥

I only beseech for victory.

ਸਭੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਦੈਤਾ ਖਪੈ ਛਿਨ ਮਝਾਰੀ ॥

The immediate destruction of all the evil enemy demons.

ਤੁਹੀ ਡਾਕਣੀ ਸਾਕਣੀ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੇ ॥

You are the angel of doom with yogic powers, who drinks the blood of the demons and are the bravest of warriors.

ਤੁਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਰੀਰੇ ॥

You are the resemblance of God Almighty, and are a segment of His body.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਲਖ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਜਗਤ ਕਰਨਹਾਰੀ ॥

You are beyond comprehension O Durga and you are the creator of the Universe.

ਸਕਲ ਛੋਡ ਕਰ ਓਟ ਪਕੜੀ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

I have left all and come to you for assistance.

ਤੁਹੀ ਮੱਛ ਹੋਇ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਭੀਤਰ ਖਿਲੰਤੀ ॥

You manifested as a big fish and froliced in the ocean.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦੈਂਤ ਸੰਖਾਸੁਰੇ ਕਉ ਦਲੰਤੀ ॥

You destroyed the Sankhasur demon.

ਤੁਮਨ ਮੱਲ ਚੰਡੂਰ ਗਹਿ ਕਰ ਉਡਾਯੋ ॥

You got hold of the wrestler Chandoor and killed him.

ਜਗਨ ਨਾਥ ਹੁਇ ਦੈਤ ਗਯਾਸੁਰ ਬਿਡਾਰੇ ॥

You were evident as Jagan Nath and killed Gayasur demon.

ਤੁਹੀ ਨਿਹਕਲੰਕੀ ਭਈ ਖੜਗ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

You were evident as the sword wielding NehKalank.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦੈਂਤ ਕਿਲਾਕਾਸੁਰੇ ਕਉ ਸੰਘਰਣੀ ॥

You annihilated Kilkasur the demon.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੁਗਣ ਬੀਚ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਰਣੀ ॥

It is you who are born in every aeon.

ਜੁਗੋ ਜੁਗ ਸਕਲ ਖੇਲ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਰਚਾਯੋ ॥

During all the aeons you have created all the marvellous wonders.

ਤੁਮਨ ਖੇਲ ਕਾ ਭੇਦ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥

But no one could perceive the wonder of these marvels.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਸ਼ਟ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਅਕਾਲੰ ॥

You are the eight-armed Eternal Durga Bhawani.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਕਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਊਪਰ ਦਯਾਲੰ ॥

All the cosmos is relishing your benevolence.

ਤੁਮਨ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਖੇਲ ਕੀਨੋ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

You inact as nature and perform wondrous marvels.

ਤੁਮਨ ਤੇਜ ਸਉ ਕੋਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥

It is with your eminence that millions of suns and moons yield radiance.

ਤੁਹੀ ਨਿਜ ਵਜੀਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਰ ਸੁਹੰਤੀ ॥

You are the Almighty Lord's personal minister and adorn His abode.

ਤੁਹੀ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨਾ ਜਾਪ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੰਤੀ ॥

You meditate day and night on the Lord.

ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਹਨ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥

You are the pure one, King of Kings and are immeasurable.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਕਟਵਰਤੀ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥

You are the might of Lord Krishna with which He destroyed the Murr demon.

ਸੁਣਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

Please heed my request O Godly Bhawani Mother.

You have killed the angry demons and saved the demi-gods.

Nobody could endure the roar of your lion in the battlefield.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜੋਤ ਜਵਾਲਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਹੋਇ ਦਿਖਾਨੀ ॥

You are seen as the radiant flame of the fire.

ਪਰਬਤ ਫੋੜ ਲਾਟਾਂ ਅਗਨ ਜਗ ਮਗਾਨੀ ॥

You shatter the mountains and illuminate the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰਣ ਭਰਣੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਏ ॥

You are the caring mother of all.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਰਬ ਠੌਰਨ ਰਹੀ ਆਪ ਛਾਏ ॥

You are prominent universally.

ਤੁਹੀ ਉਤਭੁਜਾ ਸੇਤਜਾ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨੀ ॥

You are self-created, and created by sweat and are the protector of all.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅੰਡਜਾ ਜੇਰਜਾ ਚਤਰ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

You self-create from eggs, and self-create from sperm. You are the speech of all these four creations.

ਤੁਹੀ ਤੀਰ ਤਰਵਾਰ ਕਾਤੀ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥

You are the arrow, sword, knife and dagger.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੰਖ ਪਦਮਣ ਗਦਾ ਚਕ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ॥

You are the conch, lotus, mace and the quoit (All these are the symbols of Lord Vishnu)

ਤੁਹੀ ਤੋਪ ਬੰਦੂਕ ਗੋਲਾ ਚਲੰਤੀ ॥

You fire the cannon ball from the cannon.

ਤੁਹੀ ਕੋਟ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਭਮਕ ਸਿਉ ਉਡੰਤੀ ॥

You destroy large fortresses with explosions.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬਡ ਅਜੀਤਣ ਸਗਲ ਦੋਖ ਹਰਣੀ ॥

You are the greatest unconquerable and exterminater of all suffering.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਡੋਲਣ ਅਗਮ ਖੇਲ ਕਰਣੀ ॥

You are the Lord's miracle effecting, immovable Supreme Power.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਤਿ ਬਲਿਸਟਣ ਚਤੁਰ ਭੁਜ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

You are the four-armed Bhawani with immense power.

ਤੁਮਨ ਸਰਬ ਦੁਸਟਾ ਕੀਏ ਮਾਰ ਫਾਨੀ ॥

You are the destroyer of all the wicked.

ਤੁਹੀ ਗੁਪਤਿ ਪਰਗਟ ਸਭਨ ਮੋ ਖਿਲੰਤੀ ॥

You are the invisible and the visible force predominant in all.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੁੰਭ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰੈ ਕਉ ਦਲੰਤੀ ॥

You are the obliterater of Sumbh and Mehkhasur demons.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਮੰਡਣ ਦਇਆਵੰਤ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

You are the most gracious creator of the Universe.

ਸਕਲ ਸਿੱਧ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਲਏ ਤੈਂ ਉਬਾਰੀ ॥

You are the saviour of all saints and ascetics.

ਲਖੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਊ ਅਜਬ ਖੇਲ ਤੇਰਾ ॥

Your marvels are beyond comprehension.

ਤੁਹੀ ਧਰਣ ਧਰ ਕੈ ਕਰਹਿ ਫਿਰ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥

You create the earth and then you destroy it.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬਿਜਲ ਹੋਇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਗਨ ਝਿਲਮਿਲਾਨੀ ॥

You are the lightning, which flashes in the sky.

ਤੁਮਨ ਚਰਨ ਪਰ ਸੁਰਤ ਹਮਰੀ ਲਗਾਨੀ ॥

My mind contemplates on your lotus feet.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਲਖ ਕਰਤਾਰਣੀ ਸਿਵ ਸਰੂਪਾ ॥

You are the abysmal godly power of Lord Shiva.

ਤੁਹੀ ਘਟ ਘਟੇ ਦੇਵ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਅਨੂਪਾ ॥

You are the unique Durga who is the spectacle present in all particles.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਭਨ ਬੀਚ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ॥

You reside in all and are unique.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਕੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੀ ॥

You are the sustainer of the entire universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਖਾਸ ਭਗਤਣ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੰਤੀ ॥

You are the prime disciple of the Almighty, who contemplates on Him.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰ ਚਰਣ ਪਰ ਅਪੁਨ ਸਿਰ ਧਰੰਤੀ ॥

You place your head at the feet of the Lord.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿਉ ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਈ ॥

With the Lord's grace you cannot be envisaged.

ਸਭੈ ਪਚ ਮੂਏ ਪਾਰ ਪਾਵਤ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥

All have tried and expired but none could comprehend you.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੂਰ ਬਲਵੰਤਣੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਹੀਰੇ ॥

You are the warrior with might and unequalled genius.

ਤੁਮਨ ਦਵਾਰ ਘੁਰ ਹੈਂ ਅਨਹਦ ਨਫੀਰੇ ॥

Numerous flutes sound the melody at your doorway.

ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸਰੂਪਾ ਤੁਹੀ ਆਦਿ ਰਾਣੀ ॥

You are the initial illustrious Queen.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜੋਗ ਬਿੱਦਯਾ ਤੁਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

You are the yogic knowledge and you are the utterance of God.

ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਥ ਕਾਦਰ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥

The illustrious God, the Majestic Father.

ਤਹਾਂ ਤੂ ਖੜੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

You are standing in His presence in the guise of Nature.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅੰਭਕੇ ਸਕਤਿ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

You are the life bestowing power Durga Bhawani.

ਤੁਮਨ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥

Your Eternal light is prevalent every where.

ਧਰਨ ਪਵਨ ਆਕਾਸ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਰੂਪਾ ॥

You are the earth, wind, sky and the entire creation.

ਤੁਹੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਅਲਖ ਦੇਵੀ ਅਨੂਪਾ ॥

You are the phenomenal power of nature.

ਨਹੀ ਭਾਖ ਸਾਕਉ ਮੈ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥

I cannot construe your genius.

ਲਖਯਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਤੁਮਨ ਅੰਤ ਪਾਰੀ ॥

As no one has been able to comprehend you.

ਯਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਚਰਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

I am your slave longing for the dust of your feet.

ਤੁਮਨ ਦੁਵਾਰ ਠਾਢਾ ਸਦਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥

I stand at your door always praying zealously.

The Eternal Godly Power has opened her mouth and with her sharp teeth pulverizes the demons.

ਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਵੈ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਜੁੱਧ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਬ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥

The Panth will only survive in this world if you conduct war and proclaim peace.

ਨਮੋ ਦੇਵਿਸਾ ਕੁੰਭਰੀ ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾਜਾ ॥

Salutation to the deity of Hingula mountain, the creator of demi-gods.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਕੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿੱਧ ਕਾਜਾ ॥

You righteously accomplish the functions of the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਲਖ ਜਵਾਲਾ ਕਮਛਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੀ ॥

You are the sparkling light with attractive eyes and prominent personality.

ਤੁਮਨ ਜਸ ਸਕਲ ਜਗਤ ਕਰ ਹੈ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥

The entire universe sings praise of you.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜਪੰਤੀ ॥

You contemplate on the Almighty.

ਤੁਹੀ ਰਾਛਸਨ ਕਉ ਪਕੜ ਕਰ ਦਹੰਤੀ ॥

You locate the demons and destroy them.

ਹਮਨ ਬੈਰੀਅਨ ਕਉ ਪਕੜ ਘਾਤ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

Get hold of my enemies and destroy them.

ਤਬੈ ਦਾਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜੈ ॥

Only then your slave (Guru) Gobind's (Singh) mind will be pleased.

ਤੁਹੀਂ ਆਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

You are the Guru Bhawani who fulfils every desire.

ਛਤ੍ਰ ਛੀਨ ਮੁਗਲਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੇਗ ਫਾਨੀ ॥

Destroy presently the Mughal sovereignty.

ਸਕਲ ਹਿੰਦ ਸਿਉਂ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਸਟਾ ਬਿਦਾਰਹੁ ॥

Drive all the evil doers from India.

ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਧੁਜਾ ਕਉ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਝੁਲਾਰਹੁ ॥

Fly the flag of righteousness all over the universe.

ਦੁਹੂੰ ਪੰਥ ਮੈਂ ਕਪਟ ਵਿੱਦਯਾ ਚਲਾਨੀ ॥

Both religions (Hindu and Islam) are getting contaminated.

ਬਹੁੜ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਪੰਥ ਕੀਜੈ ਪਰਧਾਨੀ ॥

Come and elevate a third religion (panth).

ਜੋ ਉਪਜੈ ਮਰੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

Do not worship the one who dies and is born.

ਅਟਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਕਾਲ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੀਜੈ ॥

Worship only the Almighty who is eternal.

ਮੜੀ ਗੋਰ ਦੇਵਲ ਮਸੀਤਾਂ ਗਿਰਾਯੰ ॥

Demolish the graves, the monastries and mosques.

ਤੁਹੀ ਏਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਾਂਯੰ ॥

Sermonise the worship of only the Almighty.

ਮਿਟਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਠਾਰਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ॥

(People) have forsaken the Veda, the scriptures and the eighteen puraans.

ਮਿਟੈ ਬਾਂਗ ਸਲਵਾਤ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕੁਰਾਨਾ ॥

(People) no longer perform the muezzin call, the islamic prayer, the circumcision and (read) the Quran.

ਸਕਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਇਕ ਬਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਕਰ ਭੁਲਾਨੀ ॥

All the populace has forgotten to praise the Lord.

ਧਰਮ ਨੇਮ ਕੀ ਜੁਗਤ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥

The duty to religion and humanity is no longer comprehended.

ਕਠਿਨ ਦੁੰਦ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥

The pandemonium is creating the (evil) darkness in the universe.

ਦਯਾ ਧਾਰ ਕਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਉਬਾਰਾ ॥

Kindly liberate me from all this.

ਤੁਹੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੇ ਸਕਤਿ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

You are the creative eternal power Durga Bhawani.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਤਾ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਧ ਨਿਧਾਨੀ ॥

You are the all knowing mother of the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਬਿਆਸ ਗੋਰਖ ਅਗਸਤੰ ਕਬੀਰੇ ॥

You are Vyas, Gorakh Nath, Agast sage and Kabir.

ਤੁਹੀ ਰਿਖ ਮੁਨੀਸਰ ਤੁਹੀਂ ਗੌਂਸ ਪੀਰੇ ॥

You are the ascetic, saint and the Gauns Peer.

ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਧਿਆਵੈਂ ॥

You always worship the unblemished Almighty Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਵਾਰ ਠਾਢੀ ਵਜੀਰਨ ਕਹਾਵੈਂ ॥

You stand as the minister at His doorway

ਨਹੀਂ ਤੁਮ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਸਰ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥

No one else is close to the Almighty as you are.

ਤੁਹੀਂ ਅਲਖਣੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

You are ubiquitous in the entire universe.

ਅਪੁਨ ਜਾਨ ਕਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਬਚਾਈ ॥

Comprehend me as yours and save me.

ਅਸੁਰ ਪਾਪੀਅਨ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਉਡਾਈ ॥

Vanquish the evil demons and destroy them.

ਸਕਲ ਜਗਤ ਕਉ ਸੁਖ ਬਸਾਵਹੁ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥

Bestow peace and prosperity to the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦਰਦ ਮੇਟਣ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਕੰਦਾ ॥

You are the eradicator of distress and bestower of salvation.

ਯਹੀ ਦੇਹ ਆਗਿਆ ਤੁਰਕਨ ਗਹਿ ਖਪਾਊਂ ॥

Command me to kill and destroy the Turks (Muslims).

ਗਊ ਘਾਤ ਕਾ ਦੋਖ ਜਗ ਸਿਉਂ ਮਿਟਾਊਂ ॥

Eliminate the killing of the cow from the entire universe.

ਛੱਤ੍ਰ ਤਖਤ ਮੁਗਲਨ ਕਰਹੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੂਰੇ ॥

I shall kill the Mughals and end their rule.

ਘੁਰਹਿ ਤਬ ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ ਫਤਹ ਧਰਮ ਤੂਰੇ ॥

The triumphant clarion call of morality will again resound in the universe.

ਤੁਮਨ ਦਰ ਖੜਾ ਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਹੈ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ॥

This slave of yours stands at your door and implores to you.

ਤੁਰਕਨ ਮੇਟ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥

Destroy the Turks and enlighten the universe.

ਤਬਹਿ ਗੀਤ ਮੰਗਲ ਫਤਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਨਾਊਂ ॥

Only then I can sing the song of victory.

ਤੁਮਨ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰ ਦੂਖ ਸਗਲੇ ਮਿਟਾਊਂ ॥

By your veneration, eradicate all anguish.

Have compassion on your slave to enable him to make the four corners (of the universe) pay obeisance at your feet.

ਨਾਮ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਭਏ ਸਿੰਧ ਭਵ ਪਾਰ ॥

Whosoever prays to you crosses over this ocean of the illusory world.

ਨਮੋ ਕਸਟ ਹਰਣੀ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਸਕਤਿ ਮਾਏ ॥

Salutation to Mother Durga, the exterminator of all suffering.

ਸਭੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਦਾਨੋ ਪਕੜ ਤੈ ਖਪਾਏ ॥

You have caught all evil demons and annihilated them.

ਤੁਮਨ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਕ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥

You dwell in all the three worlds,

ਤਹਾਂ ਨੂਰ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪ ਛਾਜੈ ॥

where your eEternal light is ever prevalent.

ਤੁਹੀ ਧੌਲ ਗਿਰ ਕੋਟ ਕਾਂਗੜ ਬਸੰਤੀ ॥

You are the Himalaya, mountains and countless river waves.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅਛਲ ਅਨਾਦ ਦੇਵਨ ਅਨੰਤੀ ॥

You are beyond deception, the endless godly power.

ਰਟੋਂ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨਾ ਜਾਪ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

I repeat your name day and night O Bhawani.

ਤੁਮਨ ਚਰਨ ਮੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਲਗਾਨੀ ॥

Your (sacred) feet will remain my focus of devoted love.

ਕਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਜਗਤ ਕੀ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥

O Godly Bhawani (you should) sustain the universe.

ਹਮਨ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੋਖੀ ਸਭਨ ਹੋਹਿੰ ਛਾਰੇ ॥

All our evil enemies ought to perish.

ਸਦਾ ਸਰਬਦਾ ਚਰਣ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਧਿਆਊਂ ॥

I should always contemplate on your feet.

ਤੁਮਨ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਿਉਂ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਗਲੇ ਖਪਾਊਂ ॥

With your blessing I shall destroy all the wicked.

ਯਹੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥

Grant me this boon.

ਮਿਟੈ ਕਸਟ ਗਊਅਨ ਛੁਟੈ ਖੇਦ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

Relieve the cow of agony and all ailments

ਫਤਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉਂ ਬੁਲਾਊਂ ॥

The victory to the Almighty shall be my proclamation.

ਸਭਨ ਕਉ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਹਿ ਵਾਹਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਊਂ ॥

To all, Wahe Wahe (Waheguru) shall be the word to meditate on.

ਕਰਹੁ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਤੀਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਾ ॥

Designate the third religion (panth) (different to the Hindu and Islam).

ਜਗਹਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੋਧੇ ਧਰਹਿ ਨੀਲ ਭੇਸਾ ॥

The loyal Singh (Lion-like Khalsa) warriors will rise and don blue attire

ਸਕਲ ਰਾਛਸਨ ਕਉ ਪਕੜ ਵੈ ਖਪਾਵੈਂ ॥

They will capture and destroy all demons (evil persons).

ਸਭੈ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉਂ ਧੁਨਿ ਫਤਹ ਕੀ ਬੁਲਾਵੈਂ ॥

They will sound the melody of victory in the universe.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਾਰਦਾ ਬੇਦ ਗਾਯਣ ਸੁਰਸਤੀ ॥

You are the Goddess Saraswati, singing and bestowing eminence to the knowledge of the Vedas.

ਤੁਹੀ ਦੇਵ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪਰਸਤੀ ॥

You are the magnificent Goddess Durga who is in constant touch with the Lord God

ਯਹੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਖਾਸ ਹਮਰੀ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥

Kindly adhere to my specific request.

ਅਸੁਰ ਮਾਰ ਕਰ ਰੱਛ ਗਊਅਨ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥

Annihilate the evil demons and safeguard the cow (destitute)

ਤੁਹੀ ਸਿੱਧ ਨਵ ਨਿਧ ਕਉ ਭਰਣਹਾਰੀ ॥

You are the bestower of all mystical and supernatural powers.

ਤੁਹੀ ਅੰਨ ਦਾਯਣ ਸਕਲ ਜਗ ਭਿਖਾਰੀ ॥

You are the nourisher of all and the universe is the mendicant.

ਤੁਹੀ ਰਿਖੀ ਬਸਿਸਟੇ ਤੁਹੀ ਹੈ ਦੁਰਬਾਸਾ ॥

You are the sages Vashishta and Durbasha.

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਮਦਗਨਿ ਸੰਤ ਗੋਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥

You are the radiance of Jamadgin and Sage Gautama.

ਤੁਹੀ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਅਸੁਰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕਰਣੀ ॥

You are the destroyer of the force of death.

ਤੁਹੀ ਸੇਵਕਨ ਪਰ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਰਣੀ ॥

You always bestow grace on your devotees.

ਕਹਾਂ ਲੌ ਬਖਾਨੌ ਤੁਮਨ ਗਤਿ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥

How can I describe your boundless praise?

ਤੁਹੀ ਜਾਲਪਾ ਅਲਖ ਰੂਪਣ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥

You are the sermon, beyond comparison the adorable Krishna.

ਤੁਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥

You are Bhawani, the image of the Almighty.

ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰ ਭਈ ਤੂੰ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ॥

And you are the immaculate one who is devoted to the Lord.

ਯਹੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਬਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧਿਆਊਂ ॥

Grant me the wish to worship the Almighty.

ਅਸੁਰ ਜੀਤ ਕਰ ਧਰਮ ਨਉਬਤ ਬਜਾਊਂ ॥

(And) defeat the demons and play the victory drum of rightousness.

ਮਿਟਹਿ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਸਿਉਂ ਤੁਰਕਨ ਦੁੰਦ ਸੋਰਾ ॥

The predominance of the Turks (Muslims) ought to be wiped out from the world.

ਬਚਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵਕ ਖਪਹਿ ਦੁਸਟ ਚੋਰਾ ॥

The saints and devotees should endure and the evil thieves perish.

ਸਭੈ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟ ਪਰਜਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੁਇ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥

All the population of the world should live in tranquility.

ਮਿਟੈ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਆਨੰਦ ਗਾਜੈ ॥

End of all the suffering and fear and creation of a harmonious atmosphere

ਨ ਛਾਡਉਂ ਕਹੂੰ ਦੁਸਟ ਅਸੁਰਨ ਨਿਸਾਨੀ ॥

I will finish the impression of all evil.

ਚਲੈ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥

In the universe will prevail the theme of rectitude.

ਛਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੀਅਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੇਗ ਨਾਸਾ ॥

I will soon destroy the evil sovereignty.

ਅਪਨ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਦੇਖੀਅਹੁ ਤਬ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥

Now observe this marvel of your slave.

Couplet

ਤਬ ਖੜਗ ਤਮਾਸਾ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਹਰ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ ॥

Now observe the wonder of the sword O Eternal Durga Mother.

ਪਕੜ ਤੇਗ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਹਤੂੰ ਕਰਹੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ ॥੧॥

I shall weild the sword and destroy the enemy and radiate the light of righteousness.

ਹਰ ਭਗਤ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਤਿਸੈ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਰਣਧੀਰ ਧਰੇਇ॥

God's devotee Bhagauti assists the one who remains composed in a battlefield.

ਤਿਹ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗ ਤੁਮ ਲਾਗ ਰਹੁ ਜੋ ਪਾਛੇ ਪਗ ਨ ਧਰੇਇ ॥੨॥

You are beside the (warrior) who never retreats in the battlefield.

Stanza of short rhyming pairs

ਖਟ ਛੰਦ ਭਗਵਤੀ ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਨੀਤੇ ॥

These six stanzas of supreme power Bhagwati are very auspicious.

ਤਿਸ ਪਠਵਤ ਉਪਜਤ ਪਰਤੀਤੇ ॥

Their daily recitation promotes firm belief in the devotee.

ਇਉਂ ਨਿਸਬਾਸਰ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਯੰ ॥

By daily chanting prayer of mother Durga,

ਤਹਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਅਮਰ ਪਦ ਪਾਯੰ ॥

Eternal salvation is readily achieved.

ਯਹਿ ਖਸਟਕ ਛੰਦ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਭਯੋ ॥

The sixth Bhagwati stanza has come to an end.

ਤਿਸ ਉਚਰਤ ਸਗਲਾ ਭਰਮ ਗਯੋ ॥

Reciting it has eliminated all doubts.

ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਈਸਰੀ ਭਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੰ ॥

When the incomprehensible Godly Power conferred her blessings,

ਤਿਨ ਦਾਸ ਆਪਨਾ ਕੀਓ ਨਿਹਾਲੰ ॥

She exalted Her slave.

ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਕਲੇਸਾ ॥

Sufferings, illness, sorrow, fear and torment all vanished.

ਬਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਉਪਜੈ ਅਨਦ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਾ ॥

Abundance of blissfulness and harmony prevailed.

ਇਤ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੁਰਗੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

This is how (Mother) Durga blessed,

ਤਿਹ ਆਪਨ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਲੀਆ ਉਬਾਰੀ ॥

and shielded her slave.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਇਤਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਿਰਚਿਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਵਤੀ ਛੰਦ ਖਸਟਮੰ ਸਮਾਪਤੰਮ ਸਤ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤ ॥੬॥

Sri (Guru) Gobind Singh (Ji) accomplished auspiciously the six Bhagwati stanzas.
